Perspectives on Shakespeare and African Americans

Two African American professors closely associated with Shakespeare in their daily work—one a professor of English literature, and the other a theater professor and playwright—spoke with producer Richard Paul about black Americans’ relationship with Shakespeare’s works. The conversations touched on Shakespeare and African Americans in academic settings, on stage, and in the arts, including the ways in which African Americans have reshaped and reinterpreted his works.
