Esther Ferington is a full-time editorial consultant with an expertise in concept development, writing, editing, text and photo research, and editorial project management. She has worked in print, online, audio, and exhibition formats for a variety of clients, including Folger Shakespeare Library, the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, the National Geographic Society, the Naval Institute Press, Sunset Books, Acoustiguide Corporation, PBS.org, and Humanities magazine. She edited Folger Shakespeare Library’s 70th anniversary book, Infinite Variety: Exploring the Folger Shakespeare Library (2002).
Prior to becoming a consultant in 2001, she worked on staff for fifteen years at Time-Life Books in Alexandria, Virginia, in editorial positions ranging from researcher, writer, and editor to new product development director for history. Her focus throughout her career has been the creation of clear, engaging presentations of nonfiction topics for the general public, often in heavily illustrated formats.
Ferington has a B.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and has completed professional training in print and online publications. She is a member of Washington Independent Writers and the American Association of Museums.
